Had lunch at McGarry's....first time. Menu sounded great, but the food was only average. I had fish and chips--fish was thin with to much batter and fries were soggy. Shepard's pie was good. Wanted this to be a go to place, but I was disappointed.

Delicious. Especially the corned beef and shepard's pie. Total comfort food. The menu does change every so often, which is good and bad: you lose things you loved and gain new things to try. The bar and hightop area does get very noisy when busy, and the manger is overly-friendly and obnoxious. Kind of a buzz-kill. Other than that, great place to eat!

We walk into this place and there's a bar full of joyful drunk people singing at the top of their lungs. We're seated promptly and the server informs us that it's "Half St. Patrick's Day". AHHH. Fun. Surly Furiouses all around (no Guinness for us) I order fish and chips (meh) and husband orders the Reuben (YUMMMMM). The entrees come with fries and coleslaw and SPICY PICKLES. I ate one of the jalepenos that these fridge-pickles are marinaded with and I felt it. It brought a tear to my eye. And I rather enjoyed it. The menu has a bunch of stuff that looks spectacular on it, so if we're in the neighborhood, we'll be back.

Great authentic Irish menu. Beer food and apps are delicious. A little doesn't but over all worth it.

Went here with the little ones and it was fantastic. The service was great and the food was outstanding!! The turkey pot pie was delicious and the Reuben was the best we've ever had. Great place for dinner

We go here a lot, it's close too the house and it has good food and a great staff. My only wish is they had a bigger selection of micro brews. Especially local brews.

More than once, my wife and I have completely lost track of time while enjoying the hospitality of McGarry's. The service is always fast and friendly. The food is great; breakfast, lunch or dinner. The selection of truly Irish beers on tap are what gives this place serious credibility. The whisky list is pretty good too. The food is very much Irish in spirit, but that's enough. I'm not a huge fan of cabbage or peas anyway. I've never had a bad meal here. I've taken family, friends and co-workers, every one leaving a clean plate and empty glass. Well worth the drive out of the cities and suburbs.

I met a few friends here this evening. We trickled into the patio, had some lovely little reuben-like egg roll things and scotch eggs and beers, and then some more friends arrived. All told, fourteen of us inadvertently ambushed the place. Yikes! They were completely unfazed, and kindly opened up the back room while our server patiently attended to our every need. Really splendid folks. The Irish fare isn't particularly authentic, but it was all very tasty, and the healthy portions were very reasonably priced. Boddington's on draft is a big win. All told I had a great evening with some new and old friends. McGarry's staff were patient, attentive, and kindly invited us back to do it again, anytime. A lovely blend of small town hospitality and proper pub atmosphere.

Great selection of food, with certain twist in the menu that will make your mouth water. The chef Jessie and I have become good friends and it's nice to know that he knows what I like along with all the other customers. Emil

Fun place to eat at! Stopped there while passing through town and we're glad we did! We had a waitress who was very nice and caring. I had a hardy and very tasty Shepherds Pie and my wife had the Rueben. She love the fact that the pastrami was chunky and super tender and she could tell that lots of love went into it. Both of our meals were served piping hot! Beer was served nice and cold too! We will be back next time we are in the area for sure! Looks like a fun summer spot with outdoor seating as well. Very yummy!

Went there for a team meeting/late holiday party and reserved part of the back room. Service was certainly attentive and the mussels I had were delicious as they even used some sort of cream sauce with it.

Well, we came in around 3 and the waitress seemed kind of bothered by us. She looked like she was talking to some regulars. However, the chef came out and greeted us and he was very nice. He made staying well worth it along with the food! The menu didn't offer a whole lot of choices, but I would say it had something for everyone; burgers, seafood, steak and of course the Irish dishes. I ordered the meatloaf which was amazing and my husband ordered the crab cake hoagie and he said it was fresh and the best he's had. The prices were decent for the amount of food we got. I would go back, maybe at a later time so it doesn't feel like we are interrupting the staff.

Really good place to eat. It is definitely the best restaurant around. I had the turkey pot pie, it was made fresh and had really good flavor. This place also has a good beer selection. I would recommend getting there early in a weekend because it fills up quick.

I have to admit, this place caught me off guard in a good way. I was expecting a good ol' regular bar with the standard bar menu (fries, burgers, etc) but this place had quite a nice Irish Menu and yes even Vegetarian friendly items! I wish I tried the Rueben Rolls, since they sounded interesting. This bar will serve you up a nice Martini to a canned beer. I got the Fish and Chips and quite honestly the best Fish n ' Chips I've ever had! The fish pieces were a nice big portion and the batter was a thick, tasty batter. Way better than your standard fish and chips as say, Green Mill. Will plan on going back some day.

Had a breakfast meeting here at 8 AM on a Saturday morning. We were the first two in the restaurant, and we were greeted warmly by our server and another woman (may have been an owner). I dig the decor and the layout - I imagine it's a lively place in the evenings...a great place to share a pint w/ friends. We each ordered up the McMenamy Hash (Corned Beef w/ 2 eggs and potatoes). It was exceptional. The corned beef was plentiful (ultra tender and great flavor), as were the potatoes. The tastes came together perfectly, and the eggs were cooked perfectly (and also large). It also includes toast or an English Muffin. I threw down my entire plate within about 10 minutes...I was hungry and didn't have to do much talking during the meeting! Most of the breakfast options were in the $8-$11, which seems like a decent value for all the food you get. If you happen to be in the Long Lake/Orono/Maple Plain region, definitely check it out. The dinner options also look excellent, too.

I came here for dinner last night to catch up with a friend. Being a pub, I of course had to order some pub food so fish and chips it was topped off with a Bass and Boddingtons. Service here is pretty quick, the waitstaff is friendly, and the food is ok, nothing spectacular. The fish that came out was well battered, fried perfectly, and it was a pretty large filet. It was not overdone at all and was flakey and moist. I do however wish they did something more to the batter by adding some seasoning to it because without the tartar sauce/lemon it was pretty darn bland. The fries pretty tasty but a wee bit over salted for my tastes. This restaurant has a pretty good selection of beer and they will run anywhere from the $5.00-6.00 range so it's a pretty standard. This restaurant does have a pretty nice interior and they have seating outside at the front of the restaurant and at the back of the restaurant. All in all a good place to eat especially in Maple Plain with its limited options. I'd go back if I was in the neighborhood.

I've tried quite a few Irish pubs and have mostly been disappointed. I was starting to think that culinary art in Ireland got lost in the midst of all the beer. Then I stumbled on this place. I've had the shepherds pie and corned beef...oh and blarney stones. I've never been to Ireland but I'm guessing this is the real deal...I'm basing that mostly on it actually being good. Only con: a little spendy for bar food.

Solid pub food and always lively. It can get quite loud.
